The Ogun State government has issued a warning against the erection of illegal structures within the 70-meter right of way along the Abeokuta-Sagamu and Sagamu-Lagos Expressways.
The Commissioner of Physical Planning and Urban Development, TPl Olatunji Odunlami, conveyed the warning during an enforcement exercise along the expressways.
The Commissioner, represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Physical Planning Compliance and Enforcement, Mr. Babatunde Olugbewesa, expressed concern about the proliferation of fences, buildings, and factories along the expressways without adhering to the right of way.

He emphasized the need for compliance with fencing regulations, which require the use of a see-through design in accordance with the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit regulations.
The enforcement exercise involved the removal of perimeter fences of properties without development permits, and developers who did not follow the fencing regulations were deemed to have committed an offense.
During the enforcement exercise, perimeter fences were removed from properties in Aseese along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and at Orile Imo along the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway.
An estate gate within the 70-meter right of way at Areke village was advised to be relocated to comply with regulations.
Additionally, structures along the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway were removed for non-compliance with regulations, even if some had planning permits.
Furthermore, a company on the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway and another in Obafemi Owode Local Government were sealed for not obtaining planning and development permits before construction.
