The Supreme Court has affirmed the election victory of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The tribunal and the Appeal Court in the state had previously upheld Sanwo-Olu’s victory.
The case, brought by the Labour Party candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, focused on the qualification of Sanwo-Olu’s running mate, Obafemi Hamzat.
Rhodes-Vivour claimed that Hamzat had renounced his Nigerian citizenship.

The Supreme Court held that Sanwo-Olu’s deputy is a Nigerian by birth and that the appellant did not provide evidence of the renunciation of citizenship, emphasizing that such renunciation must be registered by the Nigerian president.
The court dismissed the appeal, affirming Sanwo-Olu’s victory.
