Swedish authorities have successfully evacuated people who were stranded in over 1,000 vehicles for more than 24 hours in heavy snow, according to recent reports.

Rescue efforts were carried out overnight to free individuals stuck on the main E22 road in the Skane area of southern Sweden.

The travel disruption occurred amidst a severe winter weather episode affecting the Nordic countries, with plummeting temperatures.

Extreme cold weather has impacted parts of Sweden, Finland, and Norway. Additionally, snowstorms in Denmark have led to drivers being trapped on a motorway near Aarhus since Wednesday.

Rescuers in Sweden have confirmed the evacuation of all individuals traveling by car, with only lorry drivers remaining in their vehicles as of Thursday morning.
