The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has indicated that it anticipates the conclusion of negotiations for a new national minimum wage by March of this year.
NLC President, Joe Ajaero, informed reporters on Thursday that the federal government had already requested the organized labour to submit the names of its representatives for the committee that will engage in the negotiations for the new national minimum wage.
Ajaero mentioned that the organized labour had submitted the names of its negotiators last year, in advance of the constitution of the tripartite committee.

He highlighted that the current national minimum wage is set to expire in March, and the negotiations for the new wage are expected to be finalized before the end of March.
Addressing the wage award agreed upon by the federal government as part of palliatives, Ajaero clarified that only one month’s payment had been made to federal civil servants so far.
However, he assured workers that the outstanding balance would be settled by the end of January.
