Renowned Fuji musician, Taye Adebisi, popularly known as Taye Currency, shared a heartwarming story at an event marking the annual Oshodi Day.
The musician narrated how the late former governor of Oyo State, Christopher Alao-Akala, financially liberated him during the 2011 governorship campaign.
Taye Currency revealed that he challenged Alao-Akala about delayed funds for his campaign performances, showcasing the boldness he had developed from previous experiences.
He had previously confronted the late Lamidi Adedibu about unpaid royalties for his role as a campaign mobilizer for the state chapter’s Peoples Democratic Party.
In the recounted incident, Taye Currency expressed his dissatisfaction with delayed payments for campaign rallies.

Alao-Akala, surprised by the situation, intervened and instructed his wife, Mrs. Kemi Alao-Akala, to oversee the prompt payment for the musician’s performances throughout the campaign.
In a generous move, Alao-Akala ordered an immediate payment of N99 million to Taye Currency for his contributions to campaign events across the state’s 33 Local Government Areas.
The musician was visibly shocked by the unexpected financial boost, highlighting that after settling various expenses, he still had N60 million left.
Taye Currency’s narrative emphasizes the positive impact that Alao-Akala had on his life and career, turning things around for the better.
The musician, who later became the Culture Ambassador in the first term of Governor Seyi Makinde, continues to be influential in Oyo State.
Additionally, Taye Currency’s son, Yusuf Adebisi, secured a seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly, representing Ibadan South-West Constituency 1.
This accomplishment earned Taye Currency the title “Baba Honourable.”
