The resumption of the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago Iwoye for the 2023/2024 session remains uncertain due to ongoing disputes over a tuition fee hike.
Another meeting held on Wednesday between the university management and student union leaders to address the issue ended in a deadlock.
The tuition fees have been increased significantly, ranging from 120 percent to 194 percent, prompting student leaders to demand a reversal of the new fees, a reduction in clearance fees, the elimination of tech fees, a decrease in TRCN fees, rejection of all forms of online teaching during the 2024 academic session, and a reversal of hostel fees.

During the Wednesday meeting, it was reported that the university management was unwilling to compromise, rejecting the proposal for a maximum of a 30 percent increase in the existing fees.
The meeting concluded without an agreement, and no date was set for a follow-up meeting.
The Students Union Government, in a release, advised students not to make any payments until the issues were resolved.
With the fresh deadlock, the resumption date for the 2023/2024 session remains uncertain, as the university vacated on December 8, 2023.
