Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na’Abba, has passed away at the age of 65.
Born on September 27, 1958, Na’Abba, who served as the 8th Speaker of the House, died in Abuja on Wednesday morning after a prolonged battle with illness, as confirmed by family sources.
The late Na’Abba had experienced health challenges that necessitated his overseas medical treatment, during which he spent several months abroad before recovering and returning to Nigeria.
The former Speaker, known for his significant role in the political landscape, had joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and successfully became the party’s candidate for the Kano Municipal Federal Constituency.

He won this position in the April 1999 general elections.
Na’Abba later emerged as the Speaker of the House of Representatives following the political crisis that led to the exit of the first Speaker of the Fourth Republic, Salisu Buhari.
Having studied political science at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Na’Abba graduated in 1979.
His contributions to Nigerian politics and governance have left a lasting impact, and his demise is mourned as he is set to be laid to rest in Abuja today, following Islamic rites.
