The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) has issued a call for Nigerians to practice responsible and safe sexual behavior during the festive season to curb the spread of HIV and other Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
In a press statement released on Tuesday and signed by Toyin Aderibigbe, the agency’s Head of Public Relations and Protocol, NACA emphasized the importance of avoiding unsafe and unclean sexual activities to reduce the risk of HIV transmission.
Dr. Gambo Aliyu, the Director General of NACA, underscored the significance of prioritizing health and well-being during the holiday season.
He urged individuals to make responsible choices in their intimate lives, highlighting abstinence, faithfulness to one’s partner, and consistent condom use as effective measures to prevent the transmission of infections.

Aliyu stated, “As we celebrate this festive season, let us make responsible choices in our intimate lives.
By adopting and advocating responsible sexual practices, we can collectively contribute to a healthier and happier community.”
He reiterated the agency’s commitment to raising awareness and promoting preventive measures for the well-being of the public.
NACA serves as Nigeria’s primary agency responsible for coordinating and controlling HIV/AIDS programs.
Its mission is to lead the national response to HIV/AIDS by providing strategic direction, support, and coordination to all stakeholders involved in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, care, and support efforts.
