The Police Service Commission (PSC) has issued a clarification regarding the ongoing recruitment into the Constable cadre of the Nigeria Police Force, emphasizing that the entire process, from registration to the final medical examination, is free.
The statement comes in response to a misleading message circulating on social media, instructing shortlisted candidates to appear for physical screening with a fee of N2,000 each.
The fictitious message claimed to be from the Police Service Commission and informed candidates of their shortlisting for the physical screening scheduled for January 8, 2024, with an accompanying request for N2,000.
The PSC, through its Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, disowned and disassociated itself from the misleading publication.

Ani in a statement shared on the commissions X account on Tuesday, stressed that the recruitment process remains free, and no fee is required at any stage.
The commission warned against the activities of fraudsters attempting to compromise the recruitment exercise and urged candidates to ignore such misleading messages.
The PSC assured candidates that the Police Recruitment Board is sending authentic messages to successful candidates, providing detailed information about the screening exercise.
Candidates were advised to resist the temptation to cut corners and assured that the recruitment process is transparent, merit-based, and aligned with the Federal Character principles.
The Police Service Commission promised to uphold international standards in the recruitment exercise, ensuring the selection of candidates fit for the vision of an ideal police force.
