The Ogun State House of Assembly has directed the Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, to implement additional measures aimed at improving flood and erosion control to protect communities.
The legislators emphasized the need to address the challenges of heavy flooding and indiscriminate dumping of refuse in various communities, including Isheri, Sagamu, Abeokuta, Ilaro, and Agbara.
During the defense of the Ministry of Environment’s 2024 budget before the Ogun State House Committee on Finance and Appropriation on Wednesday, the lawmakers urged Oresanya to focus on mitigating erosion in rural areas.

The assembly called for strict adherence to environmental policies and increased enforcement efforts across the state’s three senatorial districts.
Oresanya assured that the ministry would conduct environmental impact assessments in collaboration with state and federal agencies to address the challenges effectively.
