Nollywood actor and human rights advocate, Yomi Fabiyi, also known as Araba, has strongly condemned domestic violence and gender-based violence.
In response to the viral video of Akwa Ibom-based lawyer Ekere Ebong physically abusing his wife, Fabiyi stated that domestic violence is a “turn-off” for him and recommended immediate separation from a man who physically assaults his wife, fiancee, or girlfriend.
Fabiyi expressed his disapproval of men who engage in violence, asserting that beating a woman is unacceptable to him.
He emphasized that he has never advocated for reconciliation in cases of domestic violence, as he does not support such behavior.

In a statement made available to PUNCH Online, Fabiyi outlined his reasons for his stance on domestic violence.
He mentioned the negative impact on the victims, the potential for escalation to fatal consequences, the harm to children involved, and the moral and legal consequences for the perpetrator.
He advised victims to involve the police immediately when faced with violence or provocation, emphasizing the importance of self-control and lawful actions.
Fabiyi stressed the need to address anger issues and warned against allowing violence to become a pattern in relationships.
Additionally, he criticized some parents for neglecting their responsibility to instill proper discipline in their children, attributing the rise in domestic violence cases to a lack of proper home training.
Fabiyi urged parents to invest time in raising their children and encouraged individuals to say no to domestic violence.
Yomi Fabiyi is known for his advocacy work, particularly on human rights issues, and he is the convener of the Break The Silence Foundation, an NGO that advocates for the protection of fundamental human rights.
