The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has refuted reports claiming that Victor Odeh, convicted for internet fraud, is seven years old.
The EFCC clarified that Odeh is 19 years old, not seven, as falsely suggested.
In a statement posted on its official Twitter handle, the EFCC addressed the misconceptions and contrived accounts surrounding the conviction of Odeh.
The commission explained that Odeh, along with four other undergraduates, was sentenced to two years imprisonment each for pleading guilty to a one-count separate charge related to internet fraud.

The other convicts mentioned in the statement are Chidebere Stanley Opara (a.k.a. Avail Hollywood), Manasseh Sefa Ephraim (a.k.a. Felicia_dannyyels), Chukwukere Obinna Paul (a.k.a. Shaun Lee), and Enyogu Etim Ekpo (a.k.a. Henry Wilson, Jasdav7).
The EFCC emphasized that the false narratives circulating on social media about Odeh’s age should be disregarded.
The commission clarified that it did not “parade” the convict, and it is not a court of law that convicted him.
The clarification aims to address misinformation and ensure accurate reporting on the matter.
