Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has given the green light for the issuance of appointment letters to 1,000 beneficiaries of the Ogun Teaching Experience Acquisition Channel (OgunTEACH) program, marking the first teacher employment in the state in twelve years.
The move follows Governor Abiodun’s commitment, announced during the World Teachers’ Day celebration on October 5th, to absorb OgunTEACH interns into permanent positions.
At the same event, the governor revealed the employment of an additional 2,000 interns, supplementing the existing 2,000, resulting in a total of 5,000 newly hired teachers.
Governor Abiodun, represented by the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, emphasized that the selection of successful applicants was based on their demonstrated resilience, diligence, commitment, and perseverance during their internship period.

The Commissioner highlighted that this significant step is part of the current administration’s commitment to enhancing educational standards in the state.
The aim is to inject a sufficient number of teachers into the system, alleviating the burden on existing educators, and ensuring the replacement of retirees and those who have left the country.
Addressing the newly appointed teachers, Arigbabu conveyed the governor’s congratulations and urged them to uphold integrity, diligence, and commitment to elevate teaching and learning to new heights.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission, Evang. Olalekan Ifede, disclosed that 600 of the newly recruited teachers have been assigned to public Junior and Senior Secondary Schools, with an optimistic outlook for improved education standards in the state.
Dr. Femi Majekodunmi, Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, also revealed that 300 teachers have been posted to public primary schools to strengthen the sub-sector.
Mr. Olubori Akinleye, Executive Secretary of the Ogun State Technical Education Board, expressed that the timing of the teacher recruitment aligns with the government’s plan to revitalize technical education in the state.
