Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has warned against the sale of government land by traditional rulers in the state.

He made this statement during the Statutory Meeting of the state’s Council of Obas.

The governor expressed concern over reported cases of traditional rulers and individuals selling government land in forest reserves and plantations, calling such actions unpatriotic.

Abiodun emphasized that his administration would take disciplinary action against anyone found engaging in such practices.

He reminded the traditional rulers that the land belongs to the collective patrimony of the state and should not be allocated or sold without proper authorization.

The governor also briefed the traditional rulers on his administration’s efforts to attract investors to the state, including plans for the establishment of the Ogun State Dry Port at Kajola.

He revealed that a Memorandum of Understanding for the dry port would be signed before the end of the year.

Additionally, he mentioned discussions with the President of Benin Republic regarding the use of Ogun State’s Cargo Airport by Beninese investors for exporting agro produce.

Abiodun discussed the health sector, mentioning the plan to concession the 250-bed hospital in Abeokuta.

He acknowledged that the state lacked the capacity to run the hospital and proposed a template where the state remains the landlord while others take the concession and run it professionally.
