The Ondo State Security Network Agency, commonly known as Amotekun, has paraded 62 individuals allegedly involved in various criminal activities across the state.

The suspects were apprehended in different locations within the 18 local government areas of the state.

The Commander of the state security corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed that the arrests were made in collaboration with other security agencies in the state.

Addressing the media at the agency’s headquarters in Akure, the state capital, Adeleye stated that the arrests were part of the agency’s efforts to ensure a crime-free festive period.

The suspects were apprehended based on distress calls received, surveillance activities, and joint operations with the police, NSCDC, DSS, and the Nigerian Army.

Adeleye highlighted the strategic nature of the ember month patrol and the determination to guarantee the safety of lives and properties in Ondo State.

He mentioned the successful tracking down of 15 suspected kidnappers, including those armed with guns, and the arrest of armed robbers caught in the act in Akure metropolis.

One notable suspect mentioned by the commander was Usman Garuba, arrested for alleged kidnapping and arson.

Garuba, an ex-convict, was accused of kidnapping over nine people, collecting ransom, and leading an attack that resulted in burning down an entire village.

He is now in custody, facing charges for his alleged involvement in these criminal activities.
