President Bola Tinubu extended his condolences on Saturday to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman of Saudi Arabia, and the Royal House of Saudi following the tragic demise of Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz bin Bandar Al Saud in a jet crash on Thursday.

The Saudi Royal Court reported that Prince Talal Bin Abdulaziz lost his life in the crash of a Saudi Arabian Air Force F-15SA fighter plane in Dhahran on December 7.

The announcement, however, did not disclose the specific injuries that resulted in the prince’s untimely death.

Talal, aged 62, was on a training mission and perished alongside another pilot.

The final rites for Prince Talal will take place at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh, as stated by the monarchy.

In a press release issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the loss.

He acknowledged Prince Talal’s exceptional and dedicated service to his country throughout his distinguished career in the Royal Saudi Air Force and the Saudi Intelligence Agency.

The statement, titled ‘President Tinubu Mourns Saudi Prince Talal Bin Abdulaziz Bin Bandar Al Saud,’ conveyed the President’s prayers for God Almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and solace to the Royal House of Saud, the Kingdom, and all those grieving this irreparable loss.

Prince Talal’s unfortunate fate adds to the somber list of Saudi Royals who have either been involved in or lost their lives in aviation accidents, tracing back to a 2017 helicopter crash that claimed the life of Prince Mansour bin Muqrin and seven others near the Saudi-Yemeni border.
