In a significant development, a Federal High Court sitting in Dawaki, Abuja, has handed down convictions to four individuals identified as Boko Haram financiers.
The convicted individuals are Modu Aisami, Zana Zarama, Umar Mohammed, and Bunu Kame.
According to a statement by the Special Assistant on Communication and Publicity to the Attorney-General of the Federation, Kamarudeen Ogundele, the convictions were secured by the prosecution led by the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN.

The legal proceedings took place before Justice Binta Nyako and Justice Emeka Nwite.
The defendants, Modu Aisami, Zana Zarama, Umar Mohammed, and Bunu Kame, all pleaded guilty to the charges brought against them, appealing to the court for leniency.
The defense counsel, led by Director of Criminal Justice in Legal Aid Council, F A Bakre, represented the convicts.
According to the charge filed by the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, M. B. Abubakar, Aisami was found guilty of providing funds for the terrorist group by purchasing food products, with reasonable grounds to believe that the proceeds would be used to commit a terrorist act.
This act contravenes Section 13(1)(a)(ii) of the Terrorism Provision Amendment Act, 2013.
Justice Binta Nyako convicted Aisami, who pleaded guilty to counts 2 and 3 of the charges, sentencing him to 20 years imprisonment for each offense, with the terms to run concurrently.
Nyako also convicted Zana Zarama, sentencing him to 10 years imprisonment for concealing the identity of a Boko Haram member, Modu Sulum.
The jail terms are set to run from the day the convicts were taken into custody.
In a separate trial, Justice Emeka Nwite convicted Umar Mohammed and Bunu Kame, with Mohammed receiving a 10-year prison sentence.
The convictions mark a significant step in the legal battle against terrorism in Nigeria.
