The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has announced new appointments for chairmen and deputy chairmen of Standing Committees in the House following the debate on the general principles of the proposed 2024 budget.

Among the key appointments are Iritomi Thomas as Chairman of the Committee on Petroleum Resources Training Funds, with Ajilo Shehu as Deputy Chairman.

Shehu Rijau will chair the Committee on States and Local Governments, and Vincent Bulus will serve as the Deputy Chairman.

Other notable appointments include Chike Okafor as Chairman of the Committee on Food Security and Nutrition, with Peter Aniekwe as Deputy Chairman.

Taofiq Ajilesoro will lead the Committee on National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, with Zanna Timbuktu as Deputy Chairman.

The appointments also extend to various sectors, with Ahmed Abdullahi appointed as Chairman of the Committee on Interior, and Nwachukwu Chukwugozie chairing the Intergovernmental Affairs Committee.

The Committee on Science Engineering will be led by Inuwa Garba, with Jafaru Magaji as Deputy Chairman.

Blessing Chigeru will oversee the Women in Parliament committee as Deputy Chairman, and Muazu Gwarzo will be the Deputy Chairman for the Youth in Parliament committee.

These appointments mark a significant step in shaping the legislative landscape and ensuring efficient oversight in crucial sectors for the development of the nation.
