The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of absconding from the state amid his one-year anniversary in office.

In a statement signed by the Osun APC chairman, Mr Tajudeen Lawal, the governor was criticized for allegedly failing to give an account of his stewardship to the people.

Lawal claimed that since assuming office on November 27, 2022, Governor Adeleke had run the state aground, accusing him of incompetence, lack of proper education, and zero administrative acumen.

The APC chairman further asserted that the governor’s absence was an attempt to avoid disclosing how he has mismanaged over N130 billion in government revenue in the last year.

The statement also criticized the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, for claiming that Adeleke was on a working vacation in Europe and Asia, challenging the authenticity of the governor’s whereabouts.

Governor Adeleke, responding through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, dismissed the accusations, asserting that his administration had surpassed the annual good governance targets set upon assuming office.

Adeleke highlighted achievements in various sectors, including road reconstruction, education, water projects, health outreach, and reforms in the public service.

He emphasized positive changes in the state, and in the health sector, pointed to the Imole medical outreach benefiting over 50,000 individuals.

Adeleke also outlined accomplishments in science and technology, such as introducing a digital economy agenda and launching programs to enhance internet penetration.

He concluded by stating that significant progress had been made in just under one year of his administration.

The political exchange between the APC and Governor Adeleke continues to underscore the divergent perspectives on the governor’s performance and leadership in Osun State.
