In a shocking incident, the traditional ruler of Otulu community in the Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, Eze Joe Ochulor, has been brutally murdered after being kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on Saturday morning.

Sources revealed that the monarch’s lifeless body was discovered on the roadside at Mbutu community in the neighboring Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area on the same Saturday evening.

The tragic event has sent shockwaves throughout the region, leaving villagers in fear and disbelief.

A source, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that he was abducted from his palace on Saturday morning.

Confirming the tragic incident, the spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, Henry Okoye, expressed the police’s commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice.

He revealed that the state commissioner of police has declared a manhunt for the killers of the traditional ruler.

The spokesperson revealed that the command is open to anybody with useful information that will lead to the swift arrest of the suspects.

This tragedy follows closely on the heels of another disturbing incident in the same Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA, where Chiedoziem Anyanwu, the ward chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Ife/Akpodim/Chokoneze Ward, was assassinated in the presence of his wife just days ago.

Gunmen had arrived, demanded to see him, and upon confirming his identity, shot him before fleeing the scene.

The wave of violence in the region has raised concerns about the safety and security of the residents.
