Following the October 7 raids on Israel, some hostages seized by Hamas were handed over to the Red Cross on Friday for return to Israel via Egypt, according to two Hamas sources.

The prisoners were transferred to the Egyptian side at the Rafah crossing.

This marks the first group being released under the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

A initial group of 13 women and children hostages were expected to return to Israel on Friday.
