The 12-year-old boy, previously reported missing, has been laid to rest by his parents in Abeokuta after his decomposed body was discovered five days later.

The burial took place on Tuesday evening in the Ijemo axis of Abeokuta.

The advanced state of decay of the boy’s body, evacuated by police and health officials, led to its initial rejection at the State Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta.

This tragic incident has instilled panic in the Olasunkanmi/Kotogbo communities and surrounding areas, with suspicions arising regarding ritualistic activities.

Residents in the affected areas have altered their routines, retreating to their homes as early as 7 AM, and businesses are closing earlier than usual.

There are suspicions that those responsible for the boy’s death used substances to mask their actions and avoid detection by the parents.

Saving Point Media reported signs of violence on the boy’s body during the evacuation on Tuesday. Parts of his body, including intestines, appeared to be missing or harvested by suspected ritualists.

His neck and hands were detached from the body, and his eyes could not be found during the evacuation.

The police have taken over the case to unravel the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.

Meanwhile, the boy had been working at a barbershop before disappearing last Thursday morning.

The boy, who assisted his master in operating a Point-of-Sale (POS) in a barbing salon, was reported to have absconded with a sum of N60,000 and N35,000 kept with him.

His master reported the boy’s disappearance, leading to a police search and a declaration of the woman, the boy’s mother, as wanted.

In a twist of events, the boy’s mother, feeling unsupported by the police, sought the assistance of a native doctor.

The mother claimed that the native doctor informed her that the boy was not missing but kidnapped, allegedly with the connivance of his boss, and that the boy was still in the vicinity.

This prompted the community to intervene, leading to a renewed search for the boy on Monday and the discovery of his lifeless body in a bush on Monday evening.

Adesina Olatunni, the leader of the youth in the community, shared details with Saving Point Media on how they managed to locate the missing boy’s body.
