Traditional healer spreads barks of trees for drying

The police have advised Nigerians not to seek medical treatments from unprofessional roadside nurses or traditional doctors.

This warning comes after the tragic death of a 39-year-old woman, Afusat Ololade, in the Ita Baale area of Ifo, Ogun State.

The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the incident and urged residents to learn from this unfortunate event.

Saving Point Media reported that the incident occurred around 4:07 pm on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

Sources revealed that the deceased had received an unknown injection, which led to her death.

A police source, who requested anonymity, informed our correspondent that the deceased had been receiving treatment at the home of Alabede Libagi, who claimed to be a native doctor, following a brief illness.

When Libagi felt he could no longer treat her ailment, he allegedly consulted an auxiliary nurse in the community, Oyin Israel, who administered the fatal injection.

Shortly after receiving the injection, the 39-year-old woman passed away, leading to the arrest of the native doctor, the auxiliary nurse, and the motorcyclist who transported them to the location.

The command spokesperson, Odutola Omolola, confirmed that an investigation is underway. “Our Ifo Division has arrested the three suspects after the matter was reported by the deceased’s daughter. The deceased was taken to the general hospital in the area, which confirmed her death. Three persons have been arrested in relation to the crime,” she stated.
