The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, issued a warning to Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, advising him to focus on delivering good governance to the people rather than engaging in what Ganduje termed as baseless attempts to tarnish his reputation.

Ganduje’s response came after the state government announced its intention to file criminal charges against him, alleging bribery involving significant sums of money.

Governor Yusuf had accused Ganduje of financial mismanagement upon assuming office in 2023, claiming that public funds were misappropriated and land plots were improperly allocated to Ganduje’s family members.

In a statement, the state government revealed its plan to present 15 witnesses against Ganduje in court, naming him, his wife, and son, along with other individuals and entities, as co-defendants in the case.

Ganduje, through his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, dismissed the bribery allegations as a diversionary tactic.

He criticized the governor’s administration, suggesting that the accusations were aimed at deflecting attention from its lack of substantial achievements despite receiving significant allocations.

Furthermore, Ganduje highlighted a recent ruling by the Federal High Court in Kano, which asserted that the alleged offense fell under federal jurisdiction and could only be prosecuted by the Attorney General of the Federation and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Rather than engaging in legal battles, Ganduje urged the state government to prioritize addressing the needs of the people.

He emphasized the importance of focusing on development and encouraged the governor to consider adopting his administration’s strategies for the state’s progress.

Ganduje also advocated for a comprehensive probe into governance in Kano, suggesting that any investigation should cover the period from 1999 to the present to ensure fairness and transparency.

He emphasized the principle of equity and called for actions aimed at the public good rather than personal vendettas.

Concluding his statement, Ganduje reiterated his commitment to transparent governance during his tenure and emphasized the need for current leaders to uphold similar standards without external influence.
